...this little guy was gone. I was perfectly set to get a nice profile of this little one, and just as I pressed the shutter release, he flew off...

The bird is a southern masked weaver.

The color of the bird and lighting is really beautiful. I like the action you captured too. The busy environment detracts, but there's not much you could do about that. Always nice to see birds from different parts of the world.

With colors this pretty and wing detail as good as that , the distracting BG is a minor nit, Lovely bird I have never seen!!! Congrats!!! 8)

Very interesting to see the stopped action which reveals the feather configurations. Have to agree that there a couple distractions in the image but no way would I round-file delete this!!

While I might wish for a less busy background, this is an amazing catch. I can't believe the colors on the bird, and I love the outstretched wing.
