CANON 80D
CANON 70-200 f4 plus 1.4 x teleconverter ( 280mm focal length ) f 7.1 @ 1/640 ISO 1250 I generally don't see the adult males as frequently as the adult females, but there was one at this location during the summer. He was feeding at a Salvia plant, certainly the favourite flowering plant among many other types to choose from. If the angle is just right to the viewer, the gorget, ( throat ), can appear to glow, although generally, it shows as a dull reddish- black colour. Quite an impressive show, when this occurs, however it only lasts a very short duration, when the light and angle change. Province of Ontario, Canada, image - August.
