I captured this image on a recent trip to the Pantanal of Brazil during an afternoon river float. There were several birds creating a commotion, chasing one another just above the surface of the water.  Here the dominant Kingfisher was hot in pursuit of a rival.

Ringed Kingfisher, Rio Claro, Pocone, Mato Grosso, Brazil.

Wonderful action and pose with the wings swept forward - and such dramatic light!

Wonderful catch-really tells the story with water drops, fanned tail, and open beak. Nice light too!
