ISO 2000

I have done these types of shots with multiple flashes and a fake background, with the flash stopping the wing motion.

I wanted to create a shot with a natural background.
I placed the flower in a shaded area and shot toward a sunlit tree line.
3 flashes in HSS mode at low power to light the bird.

Critical critique appreciated.

Greg, The colors came out just about right. I might have moved the bird a little more to the left (if space allowed) to make it look like the bird was flying through the frame a little more.

An excellent image, Greg. Your creativity, certainly worked very well as shown here in this photo. The lighting, pose, wing position, background, and detail on the hummingbird, all first class. ( From my own experiences, I would say that the bee balm is certainly one of the favourite plants, for the Ruby-throated hummingbirds). A pleasure to view !

The capture itself looks spot on!  I agree on a touch less space on the left and more to the right - if available.
