This Olive Sided Flycatcher swooped down and missed a dragonfly and landed briefly right in front of me. His look made me feel like my days would have been numbered if I had been some likely prey !!
I was not searching for this flycatcher at the time this image was captured but was just fortunate that our paths crossed at this moment when he was perched lower than normally is the case. Usually, Olive Sided Flycatchers sit very high on the uppermost branches of dead trees near a swamp where they swoop down for their insect prey.

Lots of things come to mind also when I view this.  All triggered by that direct and over powering look.  Brilliant shot Warren.  (Brothers Grimm.  The Undertaker, The Grim Reaper).  So cool!  :)

Great image, Warren, with excellent detail captured on the subject, plus a fine perch included, as well.

Great to see one at eye level, neat perch and BG, too.

Amazing encounter ! As you say, normally they're up too high to even think about a photo.
