I've only seen a Ruff once, and this is a lovely sighting in his breeding plumage with his orange facial warty skin - it sounds strange, but very striking!

Thank you Carol. We were fortunate to see Ruffs on several occasions, but sadly too late for the prominent courtship displays - everything seemed to be really early this year - as if anticipating a hot hectic summer.
Better luck next time.

Thank you, Peter - he does indeed look like a "man about town" - reminiscent of medieval paintings.
