Nothern Flicker #5

Nikon D850, Nikon 500mm F5.6 pf
ISO 1600, 1/800s, F9.0

This was the first day that I clearly began seeing a young bird at the nest to accept food. Coincidentally this was the only day that I clearly was able to see the food the adults were bring in to feed the young.  In this case it appeared to be ant eggs and larvae. At first glance it almost appears the adult Flicker in this image has grown teeth, lol.

Another excellent image. Too bad the young bird was not a little farther out to be able see its eye.
