As time went on the Flickers would silently enter the nest, feed the young, come up to the entrance, take a quick look around and fly away. The adults seemed to equally alternate as the female would generally come in approximately every 40 minutes, followed by the male about 20 minutes afterward.  In this image the male was checking out his surroundings before exiting the nest. Flickers generally eat ants which they probe for on the ground. In this case their is clearly dirt on the base of his beak from extracting ants from an ant hill.

Been a fabulous series Warren. Very informative and enjoyable imaging. The mud drying on the beak showing its feeding habit perfectly. Nicely done.

This really is a great nest site, framing the comings and goings of the parents beautifully, Warren! Another lovely capture.

Great that you get so many opportunities in this beautiful setting. Still no sign of the young Red-headed Woodpecker chicks here when I checked last night.

An excellent overall scene that adds to the photo of the Flicker. Well Done.

I keep waiting for some of your shots of the Red headed Woodpecker at the nest.  I guess the old adage is true.....good things are worth waiting for.  Best of luck !!!
