This member of the Warbler family always surprises me by its striking color pattern. The male in breeding plumage, such as this one, can not be confused with any of the other Warblers.  It's a very energetic bird that often fans it's tail as it flits from one branch to another in search of small insects for food.

Certainly, one of the best Redstart images, that I can recall seeing here, or in other media types ( i.e. books ). All the colours and patterns are shown so well, plus a classic pose.. Great lighting, plus a nice perch, in addition. One of the more challenging Warbler species to photograph from my experiences, being extremely active, as you state. A pleasure to view, Warren.

Beautiful pose and it certainly has a very striking and distinctive combination of saturated colours, Warren!

Great find and angle, I also think that the plumage makes them look like tropical birds.

Perfect capture of this beauty-I too love the colors and patterns of this lovely bird. One of my favorite birds and a favorite shot as well.
