Hi Paul
This was taken in Lower Himalayan Range at Sattal, Uttarakhand, India
This species was introduced to Hawaii in 1920's and has an established population over there as well.

A cool looking bird whose colors, while striking, appear at the same time a bit subtle due to the soft light. The background sets the bird off very well. Worth clicking to see it in a dark frame.
