The Snares Penguin (Eudyptes robustus) is endemic to New Zealand, only breeding on the sub-Antarctic Snares Islands, where this image was captured. They climb up some ridiculously steep rock faces to their nests.

ISO640, 214mm, f5, 1/1250, by Canon from zodiac.

This was taken in December 2016, but it is a quiet season in the Wet Tropics, so recovering some old files from a corrupted disc.

Excellent image, Greg, of a very unique looking penguin species. Great pose, captured here- it sounds like quite a trip to reach this destination- certainly worthwhile I'm sure !

Fascinating how the different penguin species adapt to their various locations around the world - I think there are at least eight countries that have them, maybe more. You caught a lovely pose with this one!

the position is superbly presented in this image and the details on the feathers are well brought out.

As already stated, a terrific pose of this interesting looking Penguin. Great details in the white feathers.
