Nikon D850, Nikon 500mm F5.6 pf
ISO 1600, 1/4,000s, F10.0, Blind This male Northern Flicker is leaving it's nest site. It currently has small young and the parents normally carry fecal sacks out of the nest. Fortunately, for the sake of this image, it did not do so this time. There is only a short window of good light in the mid morning due to shadows from nearby trees, and then the light becomes very harsh before going back to shadows. Hopefully there will be other opportunities to get the adults with their young later on, especially on a bright cloudy day. Please click for higher resolution. |
