Great shot of the Virginia Rail. Love the walking pose on the mossy surface. I have spent countless hours this year to get him out in the open but only I heard his call so far. Haven't given up yet.

Two things come to mind. Firstly, the wonderful light quality and secondly, as mentioned, getting it out in the open. Lovely image!

A gorgeous shot of this elusive bird! The walking pose, superb details, lovely setting - and wonderful golden light, all come together perfectly. I'm glad your trip is getting such good results!

The setting is very impressive as well as the early morning light. I like the inclusion of the upright stalks (that appear like the beginning stage of cattails) as it lends a nice balance to the overall composition.
