Peregrine falcon with black duck.

I was driving out of a parking lot at a local beach when I spotted two juvenile peregrine's falcon fighting over this black duck. I was photographing the victor tor for about 10 minutes when it grabbed  the duck too my amazement the duck was still alive.

Sorry to say, but personally I find this image very disturbing mostly because the Duck is still alive.

I feel the same as Karl.  We all know the harshness of nature and the survival of the fittest but the injuries to the duck at this moment, while incredibly still alive, I also find very disturbing.  I can only hope that the shock and trauma at this point had rendered it insensible.

Gruesome is the word that first came to my mind.. Nature is not always as we would like to see it portrayed, but the will to survive is not always a pretty picture as your image demonstrates.
