Piping plovers return early to our shores in Massachusetts. By June 1st week, these little fuzzballs are ready to explore the world around them, trying to stay warm and safe as needed. Parents always are around, keeping watch on the chicks, constantly calling out if they see any danger around. Here the chick is returning to the parent while 2 others are already under the wings.

Love the framing and composition Rajan! Even at this distance, the mum has eyes on you. Nicely done.

Beautiful use of space to show how small these beauties are in the big old world! A lovely capture of parent and chicks, Rajan. Her bulging wings give away that she is already brooding the other chicks.

I like the wide crop, warm light and mood. They are so much fun to watch at that stage.

Terrific selective focus. The wide crop adds to the perspective of their habitat.
