R5, RF600f/4, 1.4x, 1/3200s, f/6.3, ISO 1600, manual

These Woodpeckers are quite busy keeping the chicks fed. I can hear the little ones but they have not made an appearance yet.

My favorite of your flying Red-headed Woodpecker shots. Great angle and the down stroke shows off the birds striking combination of colors very well.
As a side note I saw where you recently purchased the 600mm lens to replace your 500. A good friend of mine did the same thing about a year ago for the same reasons you previously stated. He has your exact system and he thinks it was a great decision, so good luck with it.

Thanks, Warren! I'm fairly sure that I will keep the new 600f/4 lens, and can try to figure out where/how to sell the 500f/4. The extra reach makes almost a 20% difference and the lower weight is nice because I photograph handheld only.
