My group just got back from seeing and photographing one of the most beautiful and secretive herons in the world, the Agami Heron. We visited one of the only relatively accessible rookery's in the world, on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. They inhabit from southern Mexico down through northern Brazil. I was very proud of all who walked the one mile in and one mile back through the rain forest in 90 degree heat with 90% humidity. But we were rewarded, though difficult shooting conditions, all got some very special images!!!! Taken with the Nikon Z9 and Nikon 500 f/5.6 PF lens with the Nikon 1.4E III TC, iso 1600, 1/1250, f/8, handheld. I was there four days in these conditions and the Z9 did not skip a beat.
