Crested Caracara (top bird) and a Harris's Hawk photographed at the Laguna Seca Ranch on 10 April 2022.  Moved the shutter speed down and ISO down to try and get the best image quality of the Harris's Hawk that I could.  I wasn't concerned about an action shot because generally no other bird at the ranch is aggressive towards the Harris's Hawk.  To my surprise, the Caracara did not get that memo.

LOL. That memo obviously went adrift. Terrific action Gene. Like the choice of ss to keep a touch of blur in the wings.

I agree with David that the end result may be better due to the slight wing action. Wonderful moment in time captured of two dominant species fighting for what appears to be their preferred perch.

Wow! What a cool moment to capture, regardless of the shutter speed! Really dramatic image. And the beautiful light is a bonus.

Pretty intense interaction, and quite unexpected behavior, thanks for sharing, Gene.
