Black-necked Stilt female with young
Gilbert, Arizona D500, 500mm, 1/500, f/9, ISO2000 The stilts moved their family to a different spot, with much closer access. When she came to brood the chicks I had to back up since I couldn't zoom out. The stilts in this location are quite habituated and often come within min focus distance if I'm sitting quietly, but I was still surprised that she would come so close with the chicks. Maybe my presence helped deter the Grackles and other birds from coming. Cindy Marple
