No I did not go to Alaska to find one in full breeding plumage. I just drove to Burlington Ontario Such an amazing find.

Such beautiful birds! I saw a pair of these on the far side of a Scottish loch a few years ago - so tiny it wasn't any use trying to get a photo! I just watched with the binoculars as they dived for food. This is a great sighting, Karl. Well done!

A great find, indeed. I just saw a Common Loon in breeding plumage around here, which is also very uncommon this time of the year.

Beautiful looking bird and a fine image. I remember seeing one on the Niagara River while in a guide boat fishing. It came within 50 feet and I've never gone back without my camera on board. Amazing looking bird for sure.
