D850, 500mm, 1/2000, f/5.6, ISO640

I've been trying to learn more about using backlight with birds just to do something different.   It's challenging to come up with decent results.

The backlighting looks good. The feather in the end of the bill works well here, otherwise the bill might face into the background.

Very successful in my mind. Just enough light through the outer feathers to show beautiful detail without losing the more subtle details in the darker parts. I'd like to see just a little less of the foreground. Lovely shot!
