The Pheasant Coucal (Centropus phasianinus) is a ground dweller which as adapted in the tropics to cane fields. Normally when you see one they run, rather than fly, into the cover, so seeing this one on a fence on the edge of the cane field is actually a good perch. I think the vines help too... The only nonparasitic Australian cuckoo. This one is in breeding plumage.

Think this is the first time I have seen the bird Greg. Lovely framing. The vines add a nice touch.

Such an an interesting bird! Nice pose on the fence post. Cross between a pheasant and a cuckoo, behaviorally?

I think the different elements come together so well in this lovely frame, Greg!

Good-looking bird, I did not know that there are non-parasitic cuckoo species.

This is such a beautiful image. Yes the vine on the post adds a lot, as does the hint of definition of what's in the field behind. Really nice.
