Male Buff-breasted Paradise-Kingfisher (Tanysiptera Sylvia) captured today. The females are in the nest (termite mounds on the rainforest floor), chick should hatch soon at this elevation. These are a seasonal visitor, coming in the wet season to nest, worst time for light... I'd normally add some flash for these, but was just out looking for potential active nests, hopefully this site will allow opportunities. The male has longer streamers than the female, by about 3-5cm.

ISO5000, 600mm, f4, 1/250, by Canon.

A lovely sighting of this little beauty, Greg - let's hope you get many more while they're nesting in the area.

A truly interesting looking bird in its natural habitat. Looking forward to seeing more as the nesting season progresses.
