You may be surprised to know that there are a number of Kingfishers that do not actually fish. These species live in the forest and feed predominantly on insects and small reptiles.

This Sulawesi Dwarf Kingfisher (Ceyx fallax) for example, is one such species. As the name suggests, it is endemic to the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. It was not very easy to photograph due to its size. There were lots of clambering around undulating terrain. But with some patience, we're eventually rewarded with the brilliance of this little gem.
Regards,

Des

Beautiful photo, Des - the colours are stunning, and everything else about the image, is superb. The info on the Kingfisher was a nice extra to the photograph, as well.

The colors in this bird are incredible! What a lovely image, the green background sets the bird off really well.
