I was watching little birds through my window when I caught a glimpse of this beauty. I'm so excited! We've had a male here for the last year- a first where I live. Last spring he called and called for a mate. But we never saw a female. Now she's here!  They are both extremely shy.

Not the greatest shot through a dirty window , perhaps, but sometimes the story is worth as much as the shot in my mind :)

I would not have known this was taken thru a window. The snow really allows him to stand out.  Regardless - a beautiful view and equally beautiful story. Glad they paired up. Life is good. :)

Hey Peter, thanks. I had 5 seconds to get the shot.   Opening the window would have scared the bird completely away!  Hope to see it again but not likely time to open any windows...very shy bird.

This really looks wonderful against the darker background. Such a pretty winter scene. Hopefully she sticks around and gives you continued photo ops!

Nice image of a great looking bird. Hope you have them both for the breading season.

You can't tell it was done through a window, Cindy! What a lovely sighting and hopefully you will have more opportunities with them as a pair as the year progresses. What a nice surprise for you and well taken. Looking forward to following developments!

Great winter mood and nice that you have a pair in your area now and maybe even some chicks to watch in a few months.

Congratulations on getting this image of a first timer to your yard. Having photographed them in the past there is no doubt that they are a notoriously shy bird. I have fed them and photographed them from a favorite place to photograph them from a car and even after many years they still remain amongst the shyest birds I see. Well done and god luck going forward with the pair.
