THIS WAS TAKEN A FEW YEARS AGO, WHEN I HAD MORE ADVENTURE IN MY BLOOD, THESE GUY'S DON'T COME DOWN THIS FAR SOUTH IN THIS MONTREAL AREA, THE MOST SOUTH IS IN THE LAC ST. JEAN AREA ( NORTH-EAST 875 KM. FROM MONTREAL ) AND THAT IS FROM TIME TOO TIME, IN NORMAL WINTER'S THEY STAY FARTHER NORTH.

An excellent image, Peter, of a species that not too many photographers have managed to take. The head-up pose, is a nice extra, plus the stark background, certainly gives a winter mood, to your photograph.

Super shot and framing Peter. Very nice! Lovely details including the movement of the snow falling off the branches.
Make your life spectacular!

What a beautiful image, Peter!  A must click for the fine detail.  Fantastic composition and content - classic ptarmigan pose, browsing through the winter foliage - and superb handling of the white plumage and snowy setting.  The lovely depth you achieved throughout the frame just adds the finishing touch for me.  I love it!

I was just reading about these birds that usually live in the far north. How wonderful to get this beautiful shot-the whites are wonderful.

Beautiful pose and composition. Nice lighting for a tough subject to keep detail in the whites. Very well done, and congrats for having the sense of "adventure" to go see him and get nice images.
