One of my all time favorite Ducks. At one point it came so close that I had to stop shooting and wished for a zoom hanging from my other shoulder.

Terrific shot and the soft light works well here, Karl!

In the end, you took an excellent image with the 500mm & 1.4 tele. Karl. Certainly, a very striking species.

Beautiful details Karl.  Lovely shot enhanced by the soft lighting.  (the 1.4 III not too shabby on the PF).

Along with the pintail, these have to be one of the most elegant duck species - and this is a lovely portrait in the nice soft light, Karl!

Karl, Superb details throughout. Looks like, in this case, the overcast skies were a benefit.

Beautiful portrait of a great looking duck. We should all have the problem of having a great looking subject getting so close as to needing a zoom, or having to back away !!

The silvery water is such a striking complement for this species, love it. We have some Canvasbacks at a local pond that come close enough to take pictures with the phone on occasion!

Wow- a real beauty-you are getting wonderful ducks where you are! Lovely detail with water droplets and soft water surrounds.

I can see why this species is among your favorites, the plumage looks really interesting.
