This image was taken early yesterday morning at sunrise. The strange specs were as a result of having taken a group of images at higher settings and then trying an experiment.  I only took two at this setting when a small group of Blue Jays harassed the owl and he withdrew into the old Wood Duck box he appears to have taken as his residence for the Winter.

Remarkable capture and sighting Warren. Like the thinking and opportunity taken to try something different. Works a treat.

They are so well camouflaged and the box looks like a nice condo for the winter.

When you have some time to try different things it's good to experiment! Looks like he found himself a cozy winter home.
