ISO 400, 1/400s, F6.3, Tripod

This red phased Eastern Screech Owl was high in a tree a few years ago catching the late day sun on a cold breezy winter day. This image demonstrates how inconspicuous they can be when roosting. I was fortunate to know a few of the areas where this particular owl liked to roost and was able to find him after some searching.

What an incredible eye you had, it must not be easy to spot these magnificent animals.
This one in particular seems to be part of the tree itself or rather to be a nuance of it.

Perfect spotlight so that it is visible! I like the crop suggestion- although I might go more square-ish, and just eliminate the bright trunk at the right side.

Just a quick note about the chosen crop. Yes, a vertical or square would both be better for locating the owl more easily. My intent with this image was to make it a bit more difficult to focus one's attention to it, as one would normally come across him in his environment. However, thank you as always for your suggestions.
