This is an extreme crop from one of my images of a Great Grey Owl on a fence post at eye level. This will be the last of my recent posts of the Great Grey.  Unlike a similar image of a Snowy Owl (C) I posted about a year ago, this is a wild owl that was landed on a stable perch that allowed for a sharp enough shot to get to this extreme crop. In my eyes a Great Grey is perfect for this type of image due to its bright yellow eyes and large facial disc.

Beautiful detail and tones in this one. Since you did a large crop, I would love to see a bit more room around the sides and top. You wouldn’t lose any impact by doing that.

It's funny Joe, I experimented a lot with this crop and, believe it or not, I actually liked it closer than I currently have it. I only showed this one for the impact of the eyes and it seemed the less I cropped the less impactful the eyes became for my taste. Anyways, as the old saying goes, there's no accounting for taste, lol. Thanks for your thoughts, Joe.....I really appreciate your taking the time to offer them.

The design and detail of the face of this particular species is amazing - and beautifully captured here, Warren.

Love the crop- those eyes are so intense. The feather details are really nice to see up close too. They look like fine brush strokes.
