Adult Metallic Starling (Aplornis metallica) perched above its nest. These birds come from the islands to the north to nest in North Queensland. They arrive about August, and many are on their second brood now. The nesting colonies are generally dense and dark, and although I can occasionally get them in natural light only, I prefer to use fill flash on these to evenly bring out the green sheen and purple irridensecnce.

ISO1000, 360mm, f6.3, 1/200, 2x flash, by Canon.

the perfect bg for this shot and the popping colour eye really makes the starling stand-out of this image, clean work.

Beautiful starling species, I like the iridescence and eye color.

A really beautiful composition, beautiful background so uniform that it brings out the reflections of the subject.

+1.  Wonderful use of fill flash to achieve your goal of showing the colors.
