We had a wonderful encounter with this handsome fellow during our trip to Malheur NWR last spring.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated

Canon R5, 600mm & 2x, Gitzo Tripod & BH-55 ballhead, all manual settings using spot meter; 1/2000; f9; ISO 800

Ken, Excellent image. The lighter bg helps the Quail stand out. Like the natural habitat.

Wonderful portrait with the added bonus of a call catch - we loved having these wander thru our yard with their whole brood along. An adult would watch from the top of the fence while the rest scavenged around the ground.
