Heron taken in the Aberdares, Kenya.   Nikon d300 and 500 AF-S at 1/1600 F5.6.  ISO 400.  Hide, with bean bag. No cloning to remove reeds as feel they are an integral part of the environment.

Pretty cool capture of this guy preening David! At first I thought he was in hunting mode. I like the supporting habitat too.

LOl.  They love to preen Ken.  Hunting mode did happen later...(I am a funny old english dude that might take an image and then think to show some years on... I enjoyed the moment... ok to share a bit later..  NSN has probably got used to that, Lol...).  By the way, have   enjoyed your images Ken on your site.  Top drawer.

I thought exactly the same, until I realised how the head was turned to preen under the wing!  Nicely spotted and captured, Dave!

leaving it as natural looking as possible always makes it more of an appeal image and the shot speaks for itself, nice work DAVID.

Great image, very interesting pose captured, David. The wing feather detail is great.

Very interesting David! I like the sharp eye and wing feathers in the larger view.

Nice preening action. The curves of the reeds work nicely with the curve of the wing.
