The rain yesterday allowed me to spend some time processing images from earlier this year. This Red Tailed Hawk was in a tree in central NY last month when we had the opportunity to photograph it. It’s always nice when a raptor actually takes off toward you. R5 and RF 100-500 @ 500 about 75 feet away. Enlarge image to see details.

Excellent detail-what I like most is the spread out red tail. Don't see that from underneath too often.

Lovely sharp action capture of the take off, Ed! As you say, very nice angle with it coming towards you.

Ed, A nice image. Agree with you that they never seem to cooperate.

A great action photo, Ed, with excellent feather detail, and a very good capture of the wing positions, as well.
