Canon 90D
Canon 400mm F 5.6 L F 5.6 @ 1/800 ISO 800 This hummingbird was perched for just a second or two, on a Scarlet Emperor Vine, before flying off. The flowers bloom from mid to late summer, and the hummingbirds will occasionally feed from them, but rarely when perched, usually in-flight. If you look closely, you can see the tip of the tongue on the petal. I'm not certain if this individual was an adult female, or an immature male or immature female, as they can all appear very similar. Province of Ontario, Canada, image- Summer ( July ), 2021.
