Ruby-Throated Hummingbird

This hummingbird was perched for just a second or two, on a 
Scarlet Emperor Vine, before flying off. The flowers bloom from
mid to late summer, and the hummingbirds will occasionally feed
from them, but rarely when perched, usually in-flight.
If you look closely, you can see the tip of the tongue on the petal.
I'm not certain if this individual was an adult female, or an immature male or immature female, as they can all appear very similar.

Super sighting and timing to catch this perched Paul. The flowers show the scale of this tiny bird very well.

A click really brings out the beautiful colours and detail in this lovely capture, Paul. Great content and composition with sweet pose and well timed to catch that tiny tongue nectaring in the red blossoms. A beauty!

I really like the shape of the perch and the flowers add the perfect pop of color.
