Although she is cut off in the corner, this is the only image I have so far of a female Victoria's Riflebird (Lophorina victoriae) Ptiloris victoriae close up to the displaying male. She tends to move around quickly, not sit and watch while the photographer gets his images... the male might keep the display, moving around depending on which direction she moved, for a minute. The roundness of this particular perch is unusual, but gives too many opportunities for bad angles from the one direction it can be seen. More often than not the female will land the other side closer to the trees she will climb up. They behave like treecreepers when feeding.

ISO 400 840mm, f8, 1/250, flash, by Canon, some PS trickery.

Brilliant capture, Greg! She certainly is looking impressed with his display - who wouldn't be! Great view of this behaviour - and her reaction. I love it!

A very special image, including the female in the frame; no doubt, a difficult photograph to take- very unique !

What a unique capture. I like the inclusion of the female as she sits and watches. Great story telling with this image.

Cool pose and iridescence. Great to see the inquisitive look of the female.
