Barn Owl
Tarcoles, Costa Rica
Nikon D850, 500mm + 1.4x, 1/10, f/8, ISO500

It was so dark inside the barn that I couldn't see any detail at all.  I composed to try to capture interesting angles in the structure and didn't expect much from the effort.  When I opened the image on the computer and could actually see the detail, I was taken by how the patterns and colors in the structure echoed that of the owl.  It ended up being one of my favorite images from the trip.

As mentioned, the structures and corrugated iron make a compelling composition. Nice one Cindy!

That is a very interesting image of a bird in it's adopted environment. Nicely done.

Really great work Cindy,
it's really amazing how the details behind the barn owl create a nice texture in accordance with its plumage.

Great idea and it really does work well. The rust makes the pattern of the plumage a surprising camouflage.

A very nice image, Cindy; an unusual surrounding, but works very well here.
