This is another photo of the Philadelphia Vireo, that I posted last week- here, he ( or she ), was feeding on berries, which Vireos
consume, as part of their diet, on the way during fall migration, to
the tropics. ( Insects are the primary food for Vireos ).

Anyway, a short time later the Vireo decided that the berry was
too large, and dropped it, and flew off.

Before I read the text, I thought that the berry was way too large for a small bird to swallow, but I’ve seen Great Blue Herons swallow some very large carp to my amazement . A very unique capture.

Ha, I was wondering how it would get such a big berry down- but I am a bit surprised it didn't, birds manage to swallow food much larger than you'd think they could all the time. Anyway- really nice image, well done.

I'm glad it dropped it, Paul! I was just thinking it was going to choke if it tried to swallow that whole!

Excellent shot, great moment captured, Paul. Love the head on perspective with the berry in the beak.
