Great-tailed Grackle female
Gilbert, Arizona
Nikon D500, 500mm f/5.6 PF, 1/2000, f/7.1, ISO800

Not my favorite bird nor one I photograph very often. (noisy, obnoxious, and not colorful!)  Nesting females took advantage of an easy supply of tiny mosquito fish to feed their nestlings for a few weeks this summer.  They were remarkably successful fisher-birds, coming up with one on nearly every attempt.

Excellent incoming flight shot, Cindy. The fish in the beak is a big bonus. I did not know that they were into fishing.

nice one with the fish in the beak and the water droplet above the wing, on my monitor it's a bit on the dark side, you lost all the details CINDY.

What a surprise to see this! I guess they are smart and opportunistic! Well seen.

Fascinating capture of their fishing behaviour, Cindy. As already said, I did not know they did this! Well spotted and a perfect angle to get such a good shot to prove it.

Very nice angle to see the fish on the Grackle's incoming flight. Great looking background as well.

Cool to see one as wannabe Tern. :) Great BG colors, too.
