Nikon D850, Nikon 500mm F5.6 pf
ISO 320, 1/1250s, F7.1 This is a male Northern Paula Warbler in Spring breeding plumage. It is the smallest of the warblers found in the eastern US and can often be found in conjunction with Unsea lichen which is similar to Spanish moss. This warbler often builds it's nest either with or in this hanging lichen which normally grows in wet or boreal type evergreen habitat. This particular image was taken when the sun was already a bit too harsh, only a couple of hours after sunrise, but the natural perch made it an easy decision to shoot it when the opportunity presented itself.
