This is a dominant male Ruby-throated Hummingbird that was using this perch to launch chases against it's rival males for territorial and feeding purposes.  There was a medium sized patch of blackberry bushes in full bloom in an opening in the woods that he kept for his own. In this image he chirped as he was launching his attack on a hummingbird below.  Unfortunately it was a cloudy day and my somewhat slow shutter speed did not quite keep it's head completely sharp.  However, I thought it was close enough that the overall image was worth submitting.

He looks an angry Hummer as mentioned Warren.  On a mission.  Good story telling and own critique on the money.  I'd say in this case the behaviour more than makes up for any misgivings you have on your own standards.  Super shot!

Great pose and I also like the slightly opened bill.

Most definitely worth submitting, Warren ! The evergreen perch is somewhat unusual to see a hummingbird on, and makes for a very unique image.

Hummingbirds can be downright fierce in their defense of territory. This pose conveys quite the attitude. I really like the setting- all greens- and so the pop of red of the gorget stands out quite well.

Definitely worth sharing, Warren! The uncompressed view brings out more detail and you have captured this behaviour in a very nice frame.
