The old name is Common Moorhen. Here one of the parents shown with two of the six chicks. Both parents were visible through the reeds feeding the babies. When they ask for food, they raise their red colored bare wings. Cute!!!

Excellent behaviour caught Karl.  (This side of the pond they are still called Moorhen... Gallinula Chloropus  or even Morgan Moorhen-that last name come from my wife's childhood :) ...)...  Exceptional details as always Karl.

Very nice family behavioral pic with interesting info. The habitat may be a bit messy, but in real life that is their habitat and is well displayed in this image.
