Nikon D850, Nikon 500mm F5.6 pf
ISO 800, 1/800s, F 9.0, Kayak This was an interesting moment as the two adult loons had abandoned the chick for nearly 20 minutes as, almost out of nowhere, over a 10 minute period, a group of about a dozen adult loons landed on the lake. The two parent adults seemed to want to get into the fray of chasing each other around for a while before they all dispersed. When the female adult returned to the chick she came right up to it as if to comfort it, as seen in this image. It was probably a coincidence but I thought it was worth noting, and fortunately documenting with this shot. Please click for higher resolution. |
