This was the first attack from the spider as it jumped on the plover's head. The chick was quickly able to shake it off. The spider was relentless and launched another attack right after that.

Remarkable image! Personally, I prefer this, but that is a taste issue. The sand the spider kicked up adds spice. What a wonderful sighting.

A lovely action shot of this battle between bird and spider. Have we an outcome?

Yes, the plover chick learned the lesson the hard way. The spider was relentless and launched a couple of attacks, ended up on the back of the chick. The chick was able to shake off the spider in the end and run for the cover. All was good after that.

Cool series and behavior. Sitting on the chick's head and back is a pretty good idea in order not to be hurt or eaten. :)

Another amazing shot! The chick's action is priceless- -so obviously trying to shake off that spider. So glad it ended well!

In a sequence this is great, but for me the first image is better standalone.
