Canon 90D
Tamron 150-600 @450mm F8 @ 1/400 ISO 1250 Spring and summer resident- migrant in winter from Mexico to Central America. The male Indigo Bunting is only in an all blue plumage, as shown here, during the breeding season, and molts to a plumage with some brown colouration, at the end of summer, which is the non-breeding plumage for the winter season in the Tropics. ( They start to molt into the breeding plumage, at the end of their time down south, and are in full blue plumage when they arrive here in May). ( Females brown with no blue). They are usually in brushy environments, but will come out at times to sing, as this one did. North Americas only all blue bird species; certainly, a very beautiful and unique species. Province of Ontario, Canada, image- May 2021. Thanks to everyone for viewing Click on for best image. |
