The Bicknell's Thrush is a physically dull looking bird but it is a star amongst birders in Upstate NY where it is a very rare breeder. It's breeding territory is at the upper levels of the highest mountains in the Adirondacks and a couple of the Catskill Mountains. The Bicknell's Thrush is a shy bird and usually vocalizes only in the very early morning hours and so is difficult to locate.

In the case of this image, I was photographing my previously posted Blackpoll Warbler when this Bicknell's Thrush unexpectedly presented itself. It made for my most memorable day of birding this Spring.

Warren, Very fortunate that he appeared on a good perch with a clean background. A nice image.
