Krish, Beautiful bird with excellent details and nicely contrasting bg. Well done! Have never seen this bird before. Curious where the Monarch was photograhed?

The electric blue really caught my eyes ...
Well captured with detail, Krish!

Where in South/ South-east Asia was this taken?
Please include some shooting data if you've them.

Beautifully colored bird, well captured against a nice complimentary background. Never previously seen an image of this bird. Very nice.

Hi Gene Sorry for not including the details earlier. Done so now. I took this picture at Pune, Maharashtra, India where I live. Here these birds appear at waterholes during the months of Jan-Mar, retreating deeper into the forest at other times.

This is actually quite a well photographed bird all over South and SE Asian all the way from India extending to Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan.

There's also short video of this bird preening after a dip in the water

The colour is beautiful, the cap is intriguing, usually, birds caps are just are a dark colour, but this one seems to stick up.

Yes, it does, but not all the time. Someone said it reminds him of a yarmulke.   :D
