While backyard birding has its huge chunk of commonalities depending on locale, season and food provided, it certainly has its surprises too. More familiar with the song of the white throated sparrow, it did not really match the bird in front of me! THe brain flickered rapidly and i played the song from the Audubon app. Was immediately rewarded from a ground foraging bird to perch on the wooden arbor that we hang our flower baskets from. THe leathery viburnum with fresh growth and dried up flower bunches provided a soft backdrop only made better by the magic of the nikon 600 f/4. IT was an unexpected encounter with a lifer. And still looking for more sparrows!!
