Many of you will appreciate that photographing wildlife is never easy, nor is it predictable. But if one persists, sometimes, everything comes together.

On this particular evening, the barn owls decided to come out early. Not only that, both decided to pose together. While the pair of them were in the shade, the late afternoon sun painted the distant trees with a lovely warm glow. This contrast gave a nice separation between the foreground and the backdrop. This was the best that I have managed since the start of the project, some months ago. Hope you like it as much as I do.

This is full-frame at 500mm on D4s.
Regards,

Des

It’s always a thrill to get a shot like this! That’s what keeps wildlife photography interesting. It’s that high that you get from a special image. The colors, soft light, positioning of the owls and the perch all work together to make this a special image. A nice payoff for your work.

This is special. The two birds in their different poses look perfect, and the framing with the perch is awesome.

Terrific shot- love their poses and how the branch frames the shot. I'm glad you made this full frame- it is a lovely composition.
